Objet Series on Objectivity and Subjectivity

My work explores the concept of Objet by Marcel Duchamp: my collection of artwork represents the intersection of subjectivity and objectivity. My paintings are mixed-media and use various tectonic elements situated in an imagined temporal and spatial context. My artworks display various colours, lines, shapes, and figures, which are contextualized with my reinterpretation of visual elements from the great masters of the art.

Subjectivity and objectivity are intricate, multi-faceted concepts. How we define and think about objects depends on our objectivity of ordinary meaning and our subjectivity, which recreates the objects into our interpretation subjects. Unique tectonic elements in my Objet series evolve into different shapes, lines, and colours. They are situated in different spaces, times, and contexts as a medium to our imagination and inner subjectivity toward what we see. I actively used visual and stylistic elements from the arts of the great masters and reinterpreted them into my unique style. I experimented with imagined objects in my painting with compositional variegation. The consistent use of an eye symbolizes our subjectivity depends on how we see things and recreate them in our imagination. I created the work at home during Covid-19. I wanted to convey that our imagination and subjectivity towards objectivity can bring us an enjoyable experience while social distancing. My overall vision is to continue to bring the same experiences to those physically and mentally distanced from loved ones and seek pleasant visual experiences amid the pandemic's dark time. I hope that my audience finds such an experience by actually seeing my work in person. My work fits in with contemporary art because I creatively reinterpret the great artists' artistic styles and recreate my styles. The artists who have influenced my work are Duchamp, Picasso, Kandinsky, Klimt, and Matisse. I used mixed media to convey the feeling of ready-made that Duchamp expressed in the physical artwork of Objet. Like Duchamp, my paintings shape the mental image of the objects created from our subjectivity, which can transform objectivity. My philosophy of artmaking is creativity and context.

As such, with a mental image of Duchamp's Objet, my collection of artwork expresses how subjectivity shapes objectivity. My paintings are mixed-media and use various objects situated in an imagined temporal and spatial context. My artworks display different compositions, colors, lines, shapes, and figures, which are contextualized with my reinterpretation of visual elements from the great masters of the art.
